Dr. Gary Zimmerman
Dr Gary Zimmerman completed his medical training with honours at the University of Melbourne in 1980. He has been a full time Sport and Exercise Medicine Physician since 1983. He was awarded his Fellowship of the Australian Sports Medicine Federation (an elected rather than academic award) in 1988.
Gary has a broad sports medicine experience, caring for recreational athletes of all ages (adults and children), musculoskeletal injuries that occur at work, home or play as well as many elite/professional athletes
Dr. Trefor James
Dr. Trefor James is a full time Sports and Exercise Physician, with qualifications in MBBS, FASMF, FASCSP and FFSEM (UK). He has extensive experience as a sport and exercise physician and is a fellow of both Sports Medicine Australia and the Australasian College of Sport & Exercise Physicians.
He has over 35 years of Sports Medicine experience and enjoys caring for both recreational and elite athletes, as well those with musculoskeletal problems unrelated to sport.
Dr. Stuart Down
Dr. Stuart Down graduated with honours from Monash University in 1998, and received his Fellowship of the Australasian College of Sport & Exercise Physicians in 2008, along with the College Medal for highest ranked graduate.
Stuart has now worked in Sport & Exercise Medicine for 14 years and has a particular interest in the treatment of injuries of the knee, ankle, shoulder, wrist, hip (especially FAI), and stress fractures. Stuart is also experienced in the treatment of musculoskeletal issues of the adolescent
Assoc. Prof. Julien Freitag
Assoc. Prof. Julien Freitag is an experienced musculoskeletal specialist and is a fellow of the Australasian College of Sport and Exercise Physicians.His practice is focused on the active management of musculoskeletal conditions including osteoarthritis and tendinopathy.
Assoc. Prof. Freitag is an authority in the area of clinical regenerative musuloskeletal medicine including techniques such as Platelet-rich Plasma (PRP), Extracorporeal ShockWave Therapy and Mesenchymal Stem Cell (MSC) therapy.
Dr. Patrick Sunderland
Dr Patrick Sunderland completed his medical degree at The University of Notre Dame Sydney in 2011. He spent the first years of his career at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne gaining experience in the fields of orthopaedics, general medicine and general surgery. Patrick has extensive sports medicine experience working with several different teams.
He is currently one of the club doctors at Essendon Football Club in the AFL. He enjoys assisting patients of all ages, sports and abilities with a goal to promote exercise as a lifelong prescription for good health and a healthy lifestyle.
